This rotunda is the central body of the Asilo San Lorenzo (San Lorenzo Nursery School), a building designed by engineer Luigi Cantoni in 1934.

The rotunda is still the playtime room that links the two wings of the building.

This wonderful architecture has never changed its purpose and all its components are "original": but probably it needs some restoration works, now...

Once upon a time there was a tower in the centre of Novara at the crossing between the two main road axes.

The ruins of that tower are now visible...or quite visible...due to this Stele, symbol of the old tower, and a big (dirty) glass reliquary...

Probably a more delicate project would be better...

Having said this, Novara has an important leadership: with about 70% (Legambiente data) of separated rubbish, is one of the first cities in the National list.

Cross architecture

The Asilo Negroni (Negroni Nursery School) was built in 1910.

It is a kind of hybrid building with features of different architectural styles: a bit of Modernism, a touch of proto-Functionalism with some fascist architecture premonitory signs.

This is the wonderful facade (1698) of Santa Eufemia's, a baroque church with the evident influence of the Italian architect Francesco Borromini.
